About King Edward The 7th Lodge
King Edward The 7th Lodge was formed in 1908 and enjoyed it’s centenary celebrations in 2008. We are very proud to see ourselves as a friendly and progressive Lodge with a wide variety of members from a number of backgrounds, jobs, religions and ages. The things that we all have on common is our view on life, our enjoyment of our Freemasonry and the bond of friendship that is plain to see when you meet us.
Our meetings are held every second Friday in February, March, April, September, October and November. The Master’s Installation is held on the second Saturday in December.
Owing to the amount of Lodges, we are split up into administrative provinces to help with the running of the society. King Edward The 7th Lodge is in the Province of East Lancashire and you can view the Provincial website by clicking the link – http://www.pglel.co.uk/
We meet at the fabulous Freemasons Hall on Bridge Street in Manchester which was officially opened by Lord Derby and completed in 1929. It is a beautiful and stately building that is home to a number of Freemasons Lodges who meet there throughout the year.
We hold a number of functions throughout the year and a grand gala dinner for the Ladies’ Evening as thank you to our wives and partners for supporting us throughout the year. Each and every one of us recognise that unless we have that valued support from home we just could not enjoy Freemasonry as much as we do.
At the end of every Lodge meeting we attend a dinner within the impressive dining rooms at Freemasons Hall and all sit together as one Lodge. We often entertain guests who may be visiting Freemasons or indeed non Freemasons who are wanting to understand a little more about Freemasonry and speak to Lodge members about their experiences.
All in all, King Edward The 7th Lodge can be best described as a happy band of brothers, enjoying each others company and ensuring that some good is put back into society.
What to do now?
At King Edward The 7th Lodge, we see ourselves as being a progressive and friendly body of men who enjoy talking to people about Freemasonry and explaining why we enjoy it so much.
There is a common misconception that you have to be invited to join Freemasonry by another Freemason, but this is just not the case. We welcome enquires and membership requests from men who have previously had no direct contact with Freemasonry and have a general interest in the work that we do along with wanting to be a part of a wonderful and global society.
If you have an interest in Freemasonry in Manchester and would like to speak to one of our members we would be more that happy to make arrangements and accommodate you. The first thing to do is send us a confidential email with your contact details and a short message so that we can organise a meeting and talk things through with you. All of us at King Edward The 7th Lodge found that talking through Freemasonry with a member was a great help in making the decision to join. There is no pressure to join us and we would hope that you took the time to meet other members of the Lodge, join us at a dinner and see for yourself what Freemasonry is all about.
Getting in contact with us could not be simpler, send us a confidential email by clicking here and we will do our best to get back to you within one working day.
